You’ve got lots of choices when it comes to gaming on the go. Few, however, are quite as geeky as this miniature arcade cabinet that’s powered by an Arduino.

For obvious reasons, its creators at Tiny Circuits call it Tiny Arcade, and it’s a lot like a functional version of these cool little cabinets we saw back in 2009. It’s got all the hardware you’d expect to find in a full-sized arcade cabinet: a full-color display (OLED), a joystick and a single button, and a speaker. One of the company’s own TinyDuino boards supplies the processing power and provides a USB port to recharge and re-program as well as a port to connect a lithium-ion battery pack.

Tiny Arcade comes pre-loaded with plenty of games to get you going. As you can imagine, they’re all fairly simplistic. Flappy Birdz recreates the frustratingly basic mobile sensation, Tiny Invaders pits you against hordes of fiendish pixelated aliens, and 3D Attack is a minimalistic Doom clone for the Tiny Arcade’s liliputian screen.

To add more games to your library, all you have to do is load them onto a micro SD card and pop them in to the expansion slot. Your Tiny Arcade can also double as a portable cinema! The TinyCircuits team will provide you with an app that converts standard .MP4 files to a Tiny Arcade-friendly format.

You can score a Tiny Arcade by pledging $60 to support the Kickstarter project. That gets you a DIY kit. Ready-made cabinets will cost you more: $75 for the basic model and $150 for the one with the snazzier-looking 3D-printed case.
